Winona Area Youth Hockey Association

A cold night in the frozen tundra of West Salem with Winona Pee Wee only able to come away with a tie to West Salem in a fifty minute struggle to put the puck in the net. (three 15 minute periods and one OT).  Isaac scored Winona's only goal at 12 seconds into the first period.  Winona held West Salem off until 3:10 in the second period.  Both teams played extremely hard, utilizing the entire sheet of ice.

From the cold pole barn (Mora Civic Center) in Mora,  Minnesota, Winona Pee Wee B's came out strong, played strong and defeated the Spring Lake Park Pee Wee's to achieve the championship title of the Dala Invitational Pee Wee B Hockey Tournament.  Billy's motivational talk before the game really helped.  (Copies are available upon request)  The first goal was scored by Luke at 6:22 in the first period with an assist from Cal.  Winona went on to score 7 more goals by Cody, Alex R, Alex J, Brian, Cal and Mike, with assists from most of the team.   Spring Lake Park could not get their game in order, scoring only two goals.  Final score 8 to 2.

The "Dala" horse is a symbol of the town's swedish heritage and their ties to the sister city Dalarna, Sweden.   It is 22 ft high and 18 ft long.  The temperature was about 6 degrees, but felt about 20 below with the wind.  All the boys were good sports in taking this picture.

Mora Minnesota, Saturday, January 3.  Winona Pee Wee B out played the home team, Mora Pee Wee B1, scoring 8 goals and providing Wyatt with his third shutout of the season.  Goals were scored by Cal, Alex R, Alex J (4) Brian and Cody.  Wyatt had 8 saves. 

This is Winona's second win of the Dala Invitational Pee Wee B Hockey Tournament in Mora.  Winona will play in the championship game on Sunday at 1:15.
